Physical Aspects

Make sure you know everything about your new place. Get floor plans and blueprints of your new office location and create a layout for all of your furnishings so you can get straight to work when you move in. Make sure the layout is cohesive and will allow for maximum productivity; identify the position of printers, modems, and any other pieces of shared equipment. If there are any limitations to your plan, note these down so you can notify the appropriate people.

Cleaning

You probably don’t get time to clean everything properly in your office, so take this opportunity to freshen everything up. This includes using the proper cleaner for electronic equipment – from computers to power boards. Clean all of your furniture and don’t forget about everything in your kitchen or break room as well!

Equipment

An office isn’t complete without its equipment, so you need to ensure nothing is left behind. This is also a great time to get rid of anything that hasn’t been getting enough love around the office, so sort everything into piles and donate or sell the equipment that you don’t use. Communication

Communication between yourself, vendors, suppliers, and your employees is extremely important during an office relocation. You need everything to go as smoothly as possible, so have everything set up and scheduled at least one month before the move date. Set up contact lists that everyone can use and notify all your customers and suppliers of your new address so as to minimise confusion.
